If you are given an error message in the next window and can’t continue, you will need to exit the Internet Setup Assistant and go to the Mac OS 8 installer CD (or disks) and install Open Transport PPP. Once that has been completed, open the Internet Setup Assistant and begin again.

Having strange connection problems?
It has been noted by us that the Additional Search Domains area in the TCP/IP control panel is sometimes empty by mistake. If you have errors having Netscape or Eudora connect to our site, open the TCP/IP control panel and confirm that humboldt1.com is located in the Additional Search Domains box.

After all this, you may have to reboot the Mac, but in most cases you’re ready to get on the internet!

To connect to Humboldt Internet go to the Internet Dialer located on your hard drive, usually in the Internet folder. Double-click on it and click Connect to dial-in. You can also go into the Control Panels folder and open the PPP control panel to dial-in. From here you can also check to see that you have the right modem selected and that the TCP/IP control panel is configured correctly.

Once you’ve successfully connected locate Netscape on your hard drive (it was probably installed when OS 8 was loaded) and double-click on its icon to start it up. From there you can go to our Web page and find helpful tutorials. You also have a paper copy of our tutorial in your welcome packet.
