Downloading and Installing a Program

This tutorial will guide you through downloading and installing a program.

The first step to downloading software is to find the software you want to download. Some good places are Download.Com and TUCOWS. We also have software available for download on our website.

Find the program you'd like to download and click on it. Depending on the browser that you are using to download your program, one of two things may occur.

If you were prompted to save the file to your computer in the last step then you should see a screen pop up asking you where you want to save the file.

The transfer has started! Depending on how large the file is that you are downloading and how fast your modem is, software downloads can range from 10 minutes to an hour. If you don't get a progress bar, showing you the progress of your download, hold your pointer over the software link. This should make some numbers appear in the bottom left corner of your browser screen indicating that the file is being transferred.

Once the download is complete you will want to install the program.

Once this installation is complete, you should be ready to use your new program! If you have problems installing, please check the site where you downloaded your program, as most sites offering downloads have instructions on how to install as well.
