Jim Carreyand FerndaleStar in "The Majestic"

Castle Rock Entertainment's "The Majestic" -- directed by Frank Darabont ("Shawshank Redemption," "Green Mile") -- has finished shooting in the Victorian Village of Ferndale.

Due for release December 21, 2001, "The Majestic" stars Jim Carrey (“Mask,” “The Trumann Show”) as the blacklisted screenwriter who loses his memory after a near-fatal car accident in a small rural town.

Laurie Holden plays his leading lady with veteran actors Martin Landau, James Whitmore, and David Ogden Stiers in supporting roles.

Castle Rock constructed 1951 period facades for several Main Street locations, and decorated Ferndale shop windows in '50s vintage style. Darabont chose Ferndale to give the film the “Frank Capra-esque” feel he wanted. (It IS a wonderful life.)
